Relevance Of Root Chakra In Modern Day Life
Muladhara or the root chakra is associated with the earth element and astrological graha, Mars. Mars is also known as Bhoomiputra (or the son of the Earth) It rules over the body, energy, and flesh (as karaka of 1st house Aries). The first house is also related to energy, vitality, and survival issues. Mars also rules over sexuality, lust, and destruction(as the karaka of 8th house). Most of the precious stones, mineral oil, and petrol related products are excavated from the earth. It shows the significance of wealth related to this chakra. In Feng Shui, the earth element is used to draw prosperity and keep our finances stable. It is the ultimate source of financial and physical stability. So, the Muladhara chakra is always represented as a square.
The Earth element association has a deep significance as it symbolizes our base and materialistic desires as Muladhara is the lowest chakra. Unless we fulfill our basic needs of being human, we can't move to other chakras. If this chakra is blocked or unbalanced you may feel alienated, lost, and out of tune from the world. It can also lead to a loss of vitality, being unable to draw nutrients from food, and a general lack of physical well-being. Constipation and lower back pain are some of the physical manifestations of blockage of this chakra.Doing grounding exercises by walking on grass barefoot can help in bringing this chakra into balance and harmony.
