Rahu: The North Node & Insecurity

Social media is being criticized for the rise of depression and a plethora of mental disorders among millennials. But before we put the blame on something external, it would really help if you can fix some things on the inside.

According to Vedic astrology, Rahu (or the node of the Moon) is the enemy of the Sun. It is eclipsing graha whereas the Sun represents high self-esteem and confidence. Rahu gives a tendency for an inferiority complex as one constantly compares himself to others. This attitude in turn can lead to both extreme success or downfall depending upon the placement of this node. But even if you achieve greatness due to Rahu, you will still be quite unsettled inside.

Rahu can give a lot just like a competitive attitude can take you far but won't give inner satisfaction or solid self-confidence. This holds most true in cases where Rahu is in 1st house, conjunct Moon or Sun. Rahu mahadasha can also cause a lot of mental distress and make people develop an inferiority complex. Saturn can also give these results as both grahas are often considered similar in classical texts.

By being less bothered about other's success and focusing on one's life path will help people get over these self-destructive behaviors. Sun makes people self-aware and helps them achieve their soul's purpose and Rahu distracts people from them the same.

Everyone is different born with a unique set of strengths and weaknesses. You can achieve anything you want by focusing on your goals and dreams. So, direct your energies inwards, and next time you go through your lucky friend's Instagram, don't feel jealous!
