Lord Ganesh Ji & Ketu

Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated to commemorate the birth of Ganpati, the elephant-headed deity. He is the god of wisdom, knowledge, letters and learning. Before beginning any auspicious activity, Ganesh ji is invoked as he is the obstacle remover.

Lord Ganesh is associated with Ketu. As he had been beheaded by Shiva in anger, he was headless before attaining the elephant head. Elephants are known for their big brains, incredible memory power, and cognition ability.

The south node of the moon or Ketu always seeks a guru or guide in matters of the house he is placed. Lord Ganesh Ji, the god of knowledge is needed to overcome the obstacles that this smokey graha brings.

Ketu always takes one to the peak of the matters governed by it (symbolised by the flag), only to realise the futility of the mundane existence. This realisation leads to seeking spirituality.

Spirituality marks the completion or mastery over things that the south node of the moon rules over. Ketu reminds us to seek the best which is not the material world, but the spiritual.

Hence Ketu represents the dissatisfaction that arises from not getting the best, having high standards, or wanting the best.
