The lunar mansion associated with cosmic destruction & creation: Mula

In Hindu astrology and mythology, the Mula nakshatra is associated with the star cluster known as the Galactic Center, which is located in the Sagittarius constellation. The Mula nakshatra is the 19th nakshatra (lunar mansion) in Vedic astrology, and it spans from 0°00' to 13°20' Sagittarius. . The galactic center, being the densest part of the Milky Way galaxy and the point around which the rest of the galaxy revolves, can be symbolically linked to the cosmic center or axis mundi in various religious and mythological traditions. We see correlation of these symbolism in astronomical texts because they Hindus believed in the concept, "As Above, so below, as within" which demonstrates that which exists in the external universe is also present within us. We are essentially mirrors to the cosmos.

In Hindu texts, the lotus emerging from Vishnu's navel represents the origin of the universe. It is believed that Brahma emerges from a lotus that grows from the navel of Lord Vishnu, who is a central deity in Hindu trinity and is often associated with the preservation aspect of the universe. Lord Brahma is the creator god in Hinduism, responsible for the creation of the universe.

Mula Nakshatra is considered to be the birth nakshatra of goddess Saraswati, who is the shakti and the divine feminine consort of Lord Bramha. She is the deity of knowledge, skills and music. Saraswati is always depicted holding a Veena or a form of stringed musical instrument (Lyra constellation) and riding a swan (Cygnus constellation).  Lyra hosts the Ring Nebula, resembling a lotus, and Epsilon Lyra, featuring two pairs of rapidly revolving stars, symbolizing Chaturmukha Brahma. Combining these, Lyra represents Saraswati and Brahma seated on the lotus of the Ring Nebula, with Cygnus nearby as the celestial swan.

The nakshatra texts mention that Mula nakshatra is ruled by the deity Nritti, who is associated with destruction and transformation. This symbol associated with this asterism is considered to be the "root" or "foundation" because it is positioned at the centre of the Milky Way galaxy, which is symbolically linked to the cosmic axis or the cosmic centre in Hindu cosmology.

For new creation to take place again, there has to be purging, clearing of space through the process of wilful cosmic destruction. We see this symbolism in tarot major arcana in the Tower card which represents similar destruction and recreation in the Star card. Hence we see that both the goddess of destruction Nritti and the divine creator couple Bramha & Saraswati are linked with this lunar mansion or Nakshatra.

When lord Bramha emerged from the navel of lord Vishnu, he asked some existential questions. Mula Nakshatra dasha periods induce similar intense soul searching phases and existential crisis. It demands healing on root level or work on muladhara chakra. That which is not rooted strongly will not be withstand these tests. This asterism is considered as the mulatrikona of Brihaspati or Guru, reinstating its strong correlation with deep knowledge and spiritual philosophy as seen in the case of goddess Saraswati connection.
